BMBF Framework Programme for the Promotion of Empirical Educational Research
Welcome to our portal!This website provides you with information on the Framework Programme for the Promotion of Empirical Educational Research, which was launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in November 2007. We will introduce you to the respective areas of funding and deliver insights into ongoing projects. You will find guidelines regarding the funding policy of the framework programme as well as information for young scientists and researchers. You can additionally obtain information regarding publications from the research projects.
The role of education and science systems is increasing with regard to their international competition. The new educational governance, which is based on data and oriented towards outcomes, requires a strong empirical educational research.
The BMBF framework programme intends to contribute to:
- structurally strengthening empirical educational research in Germany, to develop its quality and to strengthen international networks,
- deliver knowledge for the reform of education and science systems,
- deliver scientific grounding for central instruments of an output- and evidence-based policy (educational standards; comparisons of achievement; external evaluation of schools; educational reporting).
