National Educational Panel Study (NEPS)
The National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) constitutes a central part of the Framework Programme for the Promotion of Empirical Educational Research.
The National Educational Panel will assess longitudinal data in formal, non-formal and informal contexts across the lifespan, we will thus generate knowledge regarding educational careers.
Some of the questions we would like the data to provide answers to are:
- How are competencies developed throughout a biography?
- How do competencies influence decision-making processes at so-called critical stages of transition, e.g. from school to professional career?
- How are the competencies a person possesses influenced by external factors, such as the family, kindergarten, or school?
- Which competencies determine success in vocational training and on the labour market?
- Which competencies are relevant as regards lifelong learning and a successful individual and social life?
The National Educational Panel is carried out by a scientific consortium under the auspices of Professor Dr. Hans-Peter Blossfeld, University of Bamberg.
The
German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) has set up a priority programme for assessing the data ascertained within the National Educational Panel Study.
